Here are some commonly asked questions and answers.  If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

How do I secure your services for my wedding date?
In order to reserve your date I require an $120 deposit which can be paid via PayPal using this link.  Please be sure to reference the wedding date in the “notes” section.  It covers as many people as you decide to book for the date (we don’t need to confirm the headcount until 2 months prior).  The deposit is non-refundable if you need to to cancel for any reason, but it will be applied to the final bill.  If you decide to cancel your wedding for any reason, the deposit is forfeited.

Unfortunately, I cannot hold any dates without a deposit.

What is your policy regarding deposits and Covid?
I understand that these are challenging times and trying to plan a wedding with possible travel restrictions is not an easy task.  If for any reason you need to reschedule your wedding date, the deposit and all agreed upon pricing will be transferred to the new day subject to my availability.  If you choose a date that I’m already booked, your deposit will be forfeited.

The reason your deposit is non-refundable for any reason is that nearly the entire season of 2020 had to be postponed which has resulted in an unusual demand for open dates to reschedule those wedding into the 2021 and 2022 season.  Bookings have been compounded with reschedules and weddings already planned for 2021 and 2022.  If you place your deposit for a date, and later need to reschedule or cancel, that’s a date more than likely I’ve declined to receive other bookings.

I know this policy does not work for everyone so I do understand if you’re not comfortable placing a deposit.  But hopefully if for some reason you do need to change your date, you’d just be pushing it to another date that all of your vendors are available and so your deposit could be applied to the new date.

For this reason, I’d suggest that once you make a decision about whether to book me (or any of your fav vendors for that matter!) please send over the deposit to ensure you secure the date for those you really want to work with.

Is there anything I should keep in mind when deciding how to do my hair and make-up?
Yes.  Please keep in mind that Costa Rica is a tropical climate, meaning hot and humid.  If you normally wear heavy face foundation, this may be a good time to start experimenting with how you feel about using lighter, mineral based make-up (such as Bare Minerals, etc.).  These cosmetics tend to breathe more, thus, allowing the skin to cool itself and sweat less.

Can you come to my hotel/condo for my wedding?
Yes of course!

Do you have travel fees?
Please visit my Pricing & Booking page for travel fees.  If your location is not listed, please contact me.

How long will my appointment take on my wedding day?
I schedule 50 minutes for each appointment which covers application and cleaning/set-up for the next appointment.

Should I wear false eyelashes?
Really, it’s up to you.  However, unless you are blessed with really great lush lashes (and some of you lucky ladies are!!), using false lashes really does make the eyes “pop” in photos.  It just adds a little something extra.  False lashes don’t have to be dramatic, which is what many people envision when they think of them.  Chances are, most of the photos of wedding make-up that you’ve been admiring, have the models wearing false lashes.  The following photo shows with/without lashes.

Should I book a trial session?
This depends on you, however I highly recommend trial sessions, especially if you are planning on doing your make-up in a way you’ve never done.  At your trial, I can get to know you better and gain experience working with your individual make-up looks.  Since there are no time restraints like there will be on your wedding day, we have time to experiment and find out what works best for you.  This way, when your wedding day arrives, you have the confidence that everything will turn out as you envision.

When can I book my trial?
Any date before your wedding day.

How should I prepare for my trial?
≫≫ Bring photos of the make-up you have in mind.
≫≫ Bring any special make-up that you want to use.
≫≫ Arrive with a clean face (taking special care to remove any residual mascara).
≫≫ Apply your moisturizer at least 1 hour before.

How long does the trial last?
Most trials take about 1 hour, but there is no rush.  I set aside time to work with you to create your perfect look.  There is a maximum 2 hour window for trials (longer trials are billed at $30/hr.)

Where do the trials take place?
I will come to where you are staying.

What make-up products do you use?
The majority of the cosmetics I use are made by Bare Minerals, Urban Decay, Benefit, Dior and Make-Up Forever.  I find these products work very well in Costa Rica’s climate, are long-wearing, lightweight and photograph beautifully.  However, if you have a particular brand of cosmetics that you prefer to use, feel free to bring those with you to your appointment(s).  We can use a combination of products to achieve the look you want.
