FAQs

Here are some commonly asked questions and answers.  If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

How do I secure your services for my wedding date?
A deposit is required to reserve your date.  Please see the deposit amount for your desired package on my pricing page.  The deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to your total bill for services.  This deposit can be paid via PayPal using this link (please send it “Friends and Family” if that option is available).  Your date is not reserved until the deposit is received.  It covers as many people as you decide to book for the date (final headcount can be done 2 months before the wedding).  All deposits are non-refundable if you need to cancel for any reason whatsoever.  Please read the Cancellation Policy listed on my pricing page  for more information and prior to sending your deposit.  By placing your deposit, you agree to those terms.

If you will be needing make-up for more than the number of people indicated in your desired package, we will need to book an additional make-up artist from my team..   This will require an additional $150 deposit (and travel fees if applicable).

Costa Rica is a top choice location for destination weddings and as a result, there is a high demand for available dates.  I suggest that once you decide on a date, you send your deposit immediately to secure your desired date.  Unfortunately, I cannot hold any dates without a deposit.

Is there anything I should keep in mind when deciding how to do my hair and make-up?
Yes.  Please keep in mind that Costa Rica is a tropical climate, meaning hot and humid.  If you normally wear heavy face foundation, this may be a good time to start experimenting with how you feel about using lighter looks.  The more your skin can breathe on the wedding day, the better.

Can you come to my hotel/condo for my trial and/or wedding?
Yes of course!

Do you have travel fees?
There are no travel fees if you’ll be in Playa Tamarindo or Playa Langosta.   If you will be anywhere else, please visit my Pricing & Booking page for travel fees.  If your location is not listed, please contact me.

How long will my appointment take on my wedding day?
I schedule 1 hour per person for wedding day make-up.

Should I wear false eyelashes?
I recommend you do, but really, it’s up to you.  However, unless you are blessed with really great lush lashes (and some of you lucky ladies are!!), using false lashes really does make the eyes “pop” in photos.  It just adds a little something extra.  False lashes don’t have to be dramatic, which is what many people envision when they think of them.  Chances are, most of the photos of wedding make-up that you’ve been admiring, have the models wearing false lashes.  The cost of lashes is included in the price of make-up.   If anyone wants very fluffy, long or ultra glam lashes, they should bring their own.  There is no discount on the price of make-up if you bring your own lashes or if you have lash extensions.

Should I book a trial session?
This depends on you, however I highly recommend trial sessions, especially if you are planning on doing your make-up in a way you’ve never done.  At your trial, I can get to know you better and gain experience working with your individual make-up looks.  This way, when your wedding day arrives, you can sit back, be pampered and have the confidence that everything will turn out as you envision.

When can I book my trial?
I recommend booking the trial session the afternoon of your welcome/rehearsal dinner.  This gives us a chance to meet ahead of the wedding date and pin down your look, plus then you’re all dolled up for both events.  If this doesn’t work for you, we can schedule the trial when it’s most convenient for you.

How should I prepare for my trial?
Bring photos of the make-up you have in mind.
Bring any special make-up that you want to use, including the lipstick you’d like to use for the wedding day.
Arrive with a clean face (taking special care to remove any residual mascara).
Apply your moisturizer at least 1 hour before.

How long does the trial last?
A trial session is usually around 1 – 1.5 hours.  Additional time isn’t usually necessary but in the event we need extra time, there is a $30 fee per  ½ hour or any part thereof after 2 hours.

What make-up products do you use?
The majority of the cosmetics I use are made by Fenty, Bare Minerals, Urban Decay, Benefit, Morphe, Dior and Make-Up Forever.  I find these products work very well in Costa Rica’s climate, are long-wearing, lightweight and photograph beautifully.  However, if you have a particular brand of cosmetics that you prefer to use, feel free to bring those with you to your appointment(s).  If you have product allergies and want to use your make-up, I cannot guarantee its durability in Costa Rica’s climate.  If this is the case, let’s chat about this ahead of time.
