One of the great perks of my job is that I get to travel all over this gorgeous country and call it “work”. Most of the weddings I do are at the beach, so when I got the reservation to do Allison’s make-up up near Volcan Poas, I was more than excited because this is one area of CR I hadn’t been to.
The wedding took place at El Silencio Lodge which is an amazing oasis of nature embodying everything that comes to mind when you think of lush Costa Rica.
The lodge provided us with a room full of natural light beaming in from a huge floor to ceiling window and skylight. It was tucked away into the lush landscape of the mountain and during the 6 hours it took to get everyone ready, the rain came and went, came and went. It was like working outdoors, but without the elements. I’ve never worked in such a serene atmosphere.
Maybe that’s what contributed to the beautiful bride Allison’s completely tranquil and laid-back attitude. She may well have been the easiest going bride ever. Then again, how can you not be in this Jurassic Park-like setting??
Allison’s dress was a white lace, form-fitting, long sleeve, masterpiece which with her translucent ivory skin gave her the appearance of a storybook princess. Kirsten from Four Winds Weddings created a beautifully colorful floral crown (she’s a knock-out floral designer!) which really set off the make-up that Allison chose.
I was so excited to see the photos that the ever talented Christina Craft of Funkytown Photography took. I can’t even imagine a more lush background!
